An exciting two-year Community Support Programme has funding available to support community groups along the border who wish to run social events aimed at increasing the social contacts between neighbours on either side of the border.

Communities are being asked to identify events which they think they could run in their area. Events included:

  • Activities involving older people
  • Dances, including dance lessons
  • Card drives
  • Bowling tournaments, including road bowls and boccia
  • Racquet sports, badminton and tennis, including tuition and competitions

If a community has a suggestion not covered by the above this can be considered so please contact us.

In addition to the small social occasions, the programme can fund the transport costs for young people who wish to get to know their neighbours on the other side of the border. Youth groups such as Foroige, Youth Federation, church groups, scouts etc are all eligible to avail of this fund.

If you are interested in learning more about what might be available to your community, please contact Community Activities Co-ordinator, David Callendar on +44 (0)28 3756 9103
